Two bodies were found inside a vehicle off Interstate 580 near Pleasanton, prompting an investigation into what led to their deaths.

Officers with Pleasanton police found the two bodies, one adult male and one adult female, inside a vehicle on Pimlico Drive by the highway’s sound wall Saturday morning after a report was made earlier that day, police said in a statement issued Sunday.

The bodies were inside the vehicle — an Acura TSX, according to Pleasanton Weekly — for at least a week based on their condition. The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau recovered the bodies on Saturday.

Both remain unidentified, according to police, and their cause of death still remains unclear.

Foul play is not suspected in this incident, but officers are “not ruling anything out.” External trauma or suicide was also not believed to be a factor, reported the Pleasanton Weekly Sunday.

The publication also reported that the Saturday call about the bodies was the first case involving that Acura reported to police.

Individuals who may have information on this case or the bodies are being told to call Pleasanton police at (925) 931-5100.

A spokesman for Pleasanton police did not immediately respond to a request for comment from SFGATE.
