April 9, 2020 — Hospitals around the world are giving sweet sendoffs to people who beat COVID-19.
One woman in New York was moved to tears as health care workers wished her well on her way out the door. “After a 15-day battle in the hospital and receiving critical care for COVID-19, Christina Paz, the 47-year-old mother of five, was discharged from Staten Island University Hospital – South and reunited with her husband,” the hospital said. “Christina, thank you for letting us share this wonderful news, and thank you to everyone working so hard to get us through this very difficult time!”
In Georgia, dozens of workers lined the halls to cheer for a man who was cleared to go home from Phoebe Putney Health System. “There is so much sadness and grim news surrounding COVID-19, here is something that will surely brighten your day,” the hospital shared on Facebook.
Likewise, staff members at Leicester’s Hospitals in the UK applauded a 61-year-old man as he was discharged.
As the new coronavirus spreads, the CDC is urging everyone to wash their hands often, to practice social distancing by avoiding close contact with others, and to wear face masks if you must go out in public.
